CHINA CELEBRATES 70TH ANNIVERSARY IN ABUJA

Following the economic reforms that started in 1978, China , has recorded tremendous and sustainable growth till date. And within this period, China has been able to successfully transform it economically impoverished and politically unstable state to become a leading economy in the world.

More recently, China has established a robust economic relation in Africa and in Nigeria a lot of economic and trade relations has been achieved. Aside economic relations, the People’s Republic of China and Nigeria share the same anniversary date (October, 1st). As China is celebrates its 70th anniversary, Nigeria on the other hand will be celebrating its 59th Independence Day Anniversary. As part of the activities to preview the 70th Anniversary celebrations, the Chinese General Chamber of Commerce (CGCC) in Nigeria hosted a Gala evening on 14th September, 2019 at the Abuja International Conference Center. Speaking at the occasion was the FCT Minister, Malam Muhammad Musa Bello, who commended the Chinese Government’s development strategy involving infrastructure development and investments in several countries and in Nigeria.

Muhammad Musa Bello, who was represented by the FCT Minister of State, Dr Ramatu Aliyu, noted that over the years, the influence of China on the global stage had continued to grow in no small measure to great advancements in the areas of science and technology, ICT, heavy industry, agriculture, construction and above all, international trade She continued by stating that the Belt and road initiative which was the Chinese Government’s development strategy involving infrastructure development and investments in several countries would bridge the investment, technological and economic gaps between developed and developing nations across the world.

“This initiative will ultimately create wealth between and within nations and create an overall better standard of living for people around the world; all thanks to the government and people of China”. She concluded by expressing gratitude for the construction and donation of the China Model Primary School in Nyanya and the outstanding construction work on the Abuja light Rail project.

Other activities that graced the night were the performances by the Art Troupe of Haina Normal University, The Nigerian Traditional Dance Troupe, students from nine different Schools within Abuja and award presentation and cash price to different staff of Chinese General Chamber of Commerce (CGCC) in Nigeria.
